Aspen Institute Canvas of Leadership Art Finalist
Anna's Oak Group Exhibit at Warwick Furnace Farm
810 Warwick Furnace Rd., Glemoore, PA
Anna's Oak was an est. 200 year old majestic tree that fell in the Thomas P. Bentley Nature Preserve in 2024. A portion of art sales benefit the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust
This exhibit features multimedia artwork made using portions of the fallen tree - paintings, sculpture, furniture, and more-
I loved working with bark fragments from the tree. For "Summer Oak" I used the bark to stamp and print my canvas with pattern building an abstract image using oil paint and acrylic impasto.
My diptych work " Advice to my Younger Self" is a multimedia piece on two panels. I collage the actual bark fragments onto painted canvas. " Advice to my Younger Self" imagines the older tree in decay seeing a sapling nearby, sprouting from its roots, and beginning a dialogue as if trees were talking to one another.
